Special Needs

Council Special Needs Program

Define a Special Needs Program that supports Scouting. Special Needs include but are not limited to:

Severe Economic Limitations
Diversity issues
Language barriers
Quality role models challenges
Geographic Constraints (i.e., rural vs. urban)
Physical and/or behavioral disabilities

Propose actions to the Executive Board that will help deliver the Special Needs Program across the Council

Educate Scout Leaders regarding the Special Needs Program objectives and benefits

Work with leaders in identifying entities or individuals who fall within the Special Needs Program

Provide online resources to Leaders for documenting and mainstreaming special needs

Collaborate with other agencies in meeting documented needs

Engage experts, as needed, to assist leaders in evaluating, prioritizing and addressing special needs

Track Special Needs Program needs and accomplishments

Promote public awareness of significant Special Needs Program successes

Ø Define a “Special Needs Program” (Program) that supports scouting (i.e., cubs, boys, ventures, etc). Special Needs would include but not be limited to:

ü Severe Economic Limitations

ü Diversity issues

ü Language barriers

ü Quality role models challenges

ü Geographic Constraints (i.e., rural vs. urban)

ü Physical and/or behavioral disabilities

Ø Propose actions to the Executive Board that will help deliver the Program across the Council

Ø Educate Scout Leaders (Leaders) regarding the Program objectives and benefits

Ø Work with leaders in identifying entities or individuals who fall within the Program
